City Gears up for Annual July 4 Event

Moreno Valley continues preparations for the city's annual "Independence Day Parade and Family Fun Fest." Moreno Valley's July 4 event is the largest in the Inland Empire and received the 2002-2003 Press Enterprise Reader's Choice Award for "Best Community Event." Moreno Valley's Independence Day celebration includes a morning parade followed by a festival, musical entertainment and a fireworks extravaganza - all, free of charge. This year's festival entertainment features "The Little River Band."

The Independence Day Celebration Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall and will run north from Frederick Street at Alessandro Boulevard, then go west on Towngate Boulevard to the Towngate Shopping Center. This year's theme is "Reminiscing our Heritage!"

The Family Fun Festival is at Morrison Park and Mountain View Middle School, located at Dracaea Avenue and Morrison in Moreno Valley.

Event attendees will be subject to search, including purses, coolers, backpacks, etc. Alcohol, fireworks and pets are not permitted at the festival site.
