City Council set to discuss municipal utility contract

The Moreno Valley City Council will discuss the city's plan and consider contracting with an experienced private firm for the operations and maintenance of Moreno Valley's municipal electrical utility. This plan will be considered at two special meetings over the next two weeks. The first meeting is set for Tuesday, September 30, 2003. The second is October 7, 2003. Both meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Moreno Valley City Hall, located at 14177 Frederick Street. The meetings will also be televised live on the city's government access cable channel, MVTV-3, channel 3 on Adelphia Cable.

Moreno Valley's plan for establishing an electrical utility has been discussed at several previous public meetings, including televised meetings, since 2001. The topic also received coverage in newspaper articles and was featured on two editions of MVTV-3's "Q&A" talk show. The upcoming meetings will provide the public with additional opportunities to get the facts about the city's electrical utility plan.

Citizens are encouraged to offer their input on City matters during the public comment period of all City Council Meetings and Study Sessions, and will have an opportunity to comment on the municipal utility during the public comment period of the meetings scheduled for September 30 and October 7.
