Moreno Valley traffic collision data released
Fatal collision rate in Moreno Valley lowest among cities of similar size

The City of Moreno Valley had the lowest traffic collision rate for collisions involving fatalities or injuries for cities within the population range of 100,000 to 250,000, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety Annual Report of Fatal and Injury Motor Vehicle Collisions.

The data is for 2001, the latest year for which data is available. City traffic engineer Craig Neustaedter said the data show that the city's efforts to promote traffic safety are working. "These include effective enforcement of traffic regulations by the Moreno Valley Police Department, and the Public Works Department's adherence to design and construction standards for streets and intersections that promote traffic safety," Neustaedter said. "The Traffic Safety Advisory Committee also helps. They represent a broad cross section of the community and are responsive to residents' concerns," he said.
