Day
Street Widening Project
Street being widened from westbound State Route 60 ramps
to Box Springs Road/Ironwood Avenue
The cities of
Moreno Valley and Riverside are jointly participating in the Day Street
Widening Project between the State Route 60 (SR 60) undercrossing and
Box Springs Road/Ironwood Avenue. The purpose of the project is to relieve
traffic congestion by widening Day Street to two lanes in each direction.
Work consists of installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection
of Day Street/SR 60 westbound ramps. Work also includes pavement widening
and rehabilitation; new curb, gutter, and sidewalk; extension of existing
drainage facilities; new retaining wall; new signing and striping; and
related items.
Construction bids are scheduled to be opened on August 11, 2004. Construction
work is anticipated to begin in mid-September 2004, with an estimated
duration of four months. During construction, one travel lane in each
direction will remain open at all times.
The City of Moreno Valley is proportionately sharing the cost with the
City of Riverside. The major improvements lie within the jurisdictions
of Caltrans, the City of Riverside, and the City of Moreno Valley.
