ANNUAL SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM
On September 27,
2004, a slurry seal project will begin in the southern portion of Moreno
Valley, generally bounded by Cactus Avenue on the north, City limits to
the south, Lasselle Street on the east, and Heacock Street on the west.
Approximately 370 street segments will be slurry sealed.
The slurry seal process involves the spreading of an asphalt emulsion
and mixture coating on existing asphalt concrete pavement to seal the
pavement against environmental effects. The slurry seal process extends
the pavement life by an additional 5 to 6 years and saves taxpayer dollars.
Construction work hours are 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday. All work adjacent to schools will be completed on Saturday between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Weather permitting, this slurry seal
work should be completed by January 2005.
This project is being funded with Measure “A” Funds (half-cent
local sales tax monies).
