Veterans Memorial call for namesThe City of Moreno Valley Veterans Memorial Committee is soliciting names from the community to recognize servicemen and women killed in action (KIA). The names will be inscribed on a Veterans Memorial Fountain scheduled to be dedicated on Veterans Day (November 11th). The fountain will be located on Memorial Circle, in the Moreno Valley Civic Center between the Public Safety Building and the new Conference and Recreation Center. Nominations must be received by September 23rd in order to be displayed on the Memorial by November 11th. The Veterans Memorial arose from a council appearance by Mary Carriere, whose son, Lance Corporal Jason Tetrault, was killed in action in Iraq. From the discussion, the City Council approved funding for a design, which was headed up by a committee that included Ms. Carriere and Council members William Batey and Charles White. For more information on the Veterans Memorial, contact Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation at 951.413.3701. |
