Moreno Valley named finalist in
statewide communications competition

The City of Moreno Valley has been named one of four finalists in the 2005 California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) Awards of Excellence statewide communications competition. The city’s government access cable television channel, MVTV-3, submitted its locally produced news program, “City Watch” in the competition’s video production category.

We’re very excited,” said Interim Administrative Services Director, Angela Rushen, who serves as anchor and executive producer of the program. “The MVTV-3 staff works hard to bring our residents a top quality, locally produced news program and it’s good to know our peers in this field believe the work we’re doing deserves recognition,” she said.

CAPIO Awards are presented annually to honor outstanding public agency information and communications programs. Judging criteria for CAPIO’s video production category include achievement of program objectives, creativity, effectiveness, and scripting. Final results will be announced at the annual awards ceremony and Moreno Valley will receive one of the following honors: Award of Excellence, Award of Distinction, Award of Merit or Honorable Mention.

The 2005 CAPIO awards will be presented as part of the annual conference during a black-tie-optional evening gala on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m. in Napa Valley.
