City buys two Alternative Fuel Vehicles

The City of Moreno Valley has purchased two new Alternative Fuel Vehicles thanks to a government grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee. The new pickup truck and street sweeper, which run on compressed natural gas, were obtained using a Local Government Match Program that rewards cities and counties that purchase environmentally friendly vehicles.

“Since we’re part of the South Coast Air Quality Management District, we qualified to compete for the grant,” said Moreno Valley’s Maintenance and Operations Manager, Greg Cain. “This was really a win-win situation for Moreno Valley because the City received $30,000 in reimbursement funds, and we’re helping the environment too,” Cain said.
