Moreno Valley reminds seniors how to beat the heat

The Moreno Valley Senior Community Center is reminding seniors to beat the heat by participating in Riverside County’s Community Action Partnership Program "Cool Center." The Senior Center serves as a drop-in site where individuals may go for relief from the high temperatures. As part of the program, the County provides the Senior Center heat warning notifications and provides snacks and water for the participants at time of activation.

Weather forecasters expect the Inland Empire to see triple digit temperatures in the coming weeks, so the Senior Center’s "Cool Center" will remain activated until October 1, 2006. Senior Center hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For more information on the “Cool Center,” contact the Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation Department at 413-3280.
