City attorney takes special post in
League of California Cities
Moreno Valley City Attorney Robert D. Herrick has been elected President of the City Attorneys Department of the League of California Cities, a statewide association of more than 450 cities in California.
The League’s City Attorneys Department serves as an important professional resource for City Attorneys and other attorneys who represent cities to share their experience and expertise, and help them deal with complex public law issues. The Department provides continuing legal education conferences and seminars specifically for municipal lawyers, provides legal input to the League’s policy and legislative committees, monitors and coordinates amicus briefs and publishes guidebooks and materials for cities to use in complying with the law.
“The City Attorneys Department has been an incredible help to me over the years. Back when I was the only attorney for a city of about 130,000 people, the department was a tremendous resource that helped me keep current on the law, get ideas to make our office more efficient and meet the legal needs of the City of Moreno Valley,” Herrick said. “I am honored by the confidence placed in me by a group I consider to be the most professional, most dedicated and most effective group of lawyers in the State of California,” he said.
Herrick’s term as President of the League’s City Attorneys Department ends in October 2008.
