City Manager Appoints Human Resources Director

Moreno Valley City Manager Robert G. Gutierrez has appointed Chris Paxton as Human Resources Director. Paxton will fill the post being vacated by Denese Wilson Beilke, who is retiring from a 30-year career in human resources, including four years as Moreno Valley’s Human Resources Director.

Paxton has nearly 20 years of experience in human resources and comes to Moreno Valley from the City of Banning, where he has served as Human Resources Director since 2007. Prior to his work in Banning, Paxton served as Deputy City Manager/Human Resources Director for the City of Murrieta. He held two other positions in Murrieta, including Human Resources Director and Senior Human Resources Analyst/Human Resources Manager.

In Moreno Valley Paxton will plan, organize and direct the activities, operations and staff of Moreno Valley’s Human Resources Department, handling recruitment and selection, employee relations, workers compensation, training, and more.

“I am very pleased that Chris will be joining the City. His broad range of experience, high degree of professionalism, and great sense of humor will be major assets to this organization,” Gutierrez said.

“I look forward to working for the City of Moreno Valley. This is a dynamic, active organization with a talented workforce and I’m delighted to be part of the team here,” Paxton said.

Paxton has a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Cal State Fullerton. His first day of work in Moreno Valley is June 2. His salary will be $149,000.
