City Council Special Meeting set for August 5 at 4 p.m.

The Moreno Valley City Council will hold a Special Meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in the Moreno Valley Council Chamber, located at 14177 Frederick Street.

“The Council is coming out of summer recess to meet on two important issues that have significant implications for City finances,” Moreno Valley City Clerk Jane Halstead said.

The Council will consider whether to place a measure on the November ballot that would lower the City’s Utility User’s Tax from 6% to 5.75% and modernize the definition of telecommunications services to treat all taxpayers equally regardless of the technologies used.

The City Council is also scheduled to consider adopting a resolution opposing state budget proposals to use local government funds to balance the state’s budget deficit.
