Parks and Recreation Commission to host public workshop for City Master Plan Project

The City of Moreno Valley’s Parks and Recreation Commission is hosting public workshops to get input from the community on the development of a Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Comprehensive Plan. The workshops will give Moreno Valley residents an opportunity to tell the City and its Master Plan Consultants, RGW Design Group, what they want in future park facilities and recreation programs. The public workshops are open to everyone, and the City encourages all residents who use park and recreation facilities or would like to see the City offer new recreation programs to attend and give their input.

The first public workshop is 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick Street.

The professional consulting firm RGW Design Group will give a presentation of the Master Plan process and what the Master Plan hopes to accomplish in order to provide the City with a roadmap for development of future park, recreation, and cultural facilities, implementation of recreation services, and recommendations for future trails. More public workshops will be scheduled at a later date.

In addition to the public workshops, the City and its consultants will conduct other community outreach and seek public input using a city-wide random telephone survey, interviews with stakeholder groups, and conducting sports group surveys; however, participating in the public workshops is the best way to make sure your voice is heard concerning community park and recreation needs in Moreno Valley. The City and the Parks and Recreation Commission strongly encourage interested residents to attend the workshops.
