Electric Rate Increase for Moreno Valley Utility Customers

Effective June 7, customers of the Moreno Valley Electric Utility will see an increase in their electric bills.  The impact of the rate increase that customers see on their monthly bills will be determined by the amount of energy they use.  For example, a residential customer who uses 600 kilowatt-hours per month will experience a 0.1% increase in summer and a 4.6% increase in winter.  These increases equate to approximately $0.10 for each summer electricity bill and $4.11 for each bill in winter.  Similarly, a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours per month will experience a 7.3% increase in summer ($12.04 per bill) and 8.9% in winter ($16.68 per bill).

Rates for Moreno Valley Electric Utility’s commercial customers will also increase in June.  Small commercial customers will experience an increase of 3.4% for both summer and winter seasons.  Large commercial customers will experience an increase of 3.6% in summer and an increase of 5.2% in winter.   Rates for other usages, such as large, “time-of-use” customers, traffic signal controllers, and street lights are also affected.

A copy of the current rate schedule is available on the City’s Web site (www.moval.org) by clicking on “Resident Services” and “Moreno Valley Electric Utility.”  For more information, contact the Moreno Valley Electric Utility at 951.413.3512.
