Employment Resource Center
set to open mid-August
In an effort to assist unemployed Moreno Valley residents, plans are underway for the new Moreno Valley Employment Resource Center (ERC). The City of Moreno Valley’s ERC is scheduled to open by mid-August and will be located in TownGate Center at 12625 Frederick St. Suite K-3. Once open, the ERC will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The need for the Moreno Valley Employment Resource Center is clear as the economic downturn has resulted in job loss for a significant number of Moreno Valley residents. The unemployment rate of people living in Moreno Valley is presently estimated at 16.1%. Unemployed or underemployed Moreno Valley residents will be able to use computers at the new ERC, free of charge, to access the internet to search for employment opportunities, prepare resumes, fax job applications and/or apply for unemployment benefits. Other services at the Moreno Valley ERC will include:
- Employment Information Sessions
- Resource Library
- Hot Jobs Announcement Board
- California Career Videos
The opening and operation of the Moreno Valley ERC is made possible through a partnership between the City of Moreno Valley, Workforce Development Centers of Riverside County, and the Fritz Duda Company. The Fritz Duda Company, the owner of TownGate Center, generously donated a 3,200 S.F. storefront space near the Regency Theatres. Riverside County is providing Workforce Development staff including a Manager, Career-Resource Coaches, and workshop trainers. The City of Moreno Valley is allocating Community Development Block Grant Funds to provide project management, tenant improvements, computers, furniture, office equipment, and operational expenses.
Information about ERC services and workshop schedules will be available in August at www.moval.org or www.rivcojobs.com. To contact the City of Moreno Valley for more information, call the Economic Development Department at 951.413.3460 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
