Memorial Pavers Available to Honor Veterans

For residents wishing to honor servicemen and women, the City of Moreno Valley is currently selling permanent pavers located at the City’s Veterans Memorial. Pavers inscribed with the names of military veterans surround the monument and may be purchased to honor anyone currently serving or who has previously served in the military. The pavers are $200 and any requests submitted to the Parks and Community Services Department by October 29 will be installed prior to the City’s annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony on November 11.

The Moreno Valley Veterans Memorial was dedicated on June 14th, 2007 and is located on Memorial Way on the Civic Center campus. The $1.3 million star-shaped monument features large granite panels upon which the names of Moreno Valley soldiers killed in action are inscribed. The Memorial’s centerpiece is a battlefield cross bronze statue, “Fallen Soldier,” which consists of a pair of military boots, an M16 rifle with the barrel down between the boots, and a combat helmet on top. Along with the pavers inscribed with the names of military veterans, the Memorial is surrounded by landscaping, including olive trees. A rose garden, planted by the Moreno Valley Garden Club is also on the Memorial site.

The paver request form is available on the City’s Web site at, or it may be obtained at the Conference and Recreation Center located at 14075 Frederick Street. For more information, please call the Parks and Community Services Department at 413.3280.
