City’s Human Resources Director Accepts Position in Rancho Cucamonga

Human Resources Director Chris Paxton has announced his resignation from the City of Moreno Valley, effective February 18. Paxton has accepted the Human Resources Director position with the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Paxton has been with the City since June, 2008. During his tenure, the oversight of the City’s risk management and emergency operations/volunteer services functions were added to the Human Resources Department. Paxton has over 20 years of experience in human resources and came to Moreno Valley from the City of Banning, where he served as Human Resources Director. Prior to his work in Banning, Paxton served as Deputy City Manager/Human Resources Director for the City of Murrieta. He held two other positions in Murrieta, including Human Resources Director and Senior Human Resources Analyst/Human Resources Manager.

“Chris has been a valuable member of the Moreno Valley team and we hate to see him go,” said Interim City Manager William Bopf. “His expertise in human resources and many other aspects of local government administration have been very beneficial to our City. I credit Chris with addressing several state and federal compliance issues that had been outstanding, negotiating new memorandums of understanding with our employees under very tight budget constraints, and successfully facilitating the settlement of numerous claims that had been facing the City for a long time. I know that he has been very accessible and responsive to City staff as well. While we will miss his expertise, we wish him all the best in this new opportunity in Rancho Cucamonga.”

Paxton has a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Cal State Fullerton. His first day with the City of Rancho Cucamonga will be February 22.
