Race Car Inspires Young Readers to
Kick it into High Gear

As part of the promotion of the William H. Batey II Annual Reading Contest, Councilman William Batey will exhibit his race car for the S.T.A.R.S and A Child’s Place After School Program participants from Rainbow Ridge Elementary and March Middle School.  On Monday, March 22, reading program contestants from those sites will be at March Middle School touring the race car’s trailer and they will receive a photograph with the Councilman and his race car.

The Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department coordinates 45 after school program sites.  Children from these sites are currently participating in the William H. Batey II Annual Reading Contest, with the top three sites earning a field trip to Harkins Theater for a free movie experience.  The top two readers will receive a $150 savings bond from Visterra Credit Union.

For information, please contact the Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department at 951.413.3280.
