Sunshine Social’s 2010 Prom

Sunshine Social is a recreation program offered by Moreno Valley’s Parks and Community Services for developmentally disabled adults that are mobile and independent enough to take care of their own personal needs. The monthly program is held at the Senior Community Center located at 25075 Fir Avenue on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There is a $20 resident fee, participants enjoy weekly scheduled activities such as crafts, talent shows, movie nights, organized game nights, and scavenger hunts. On Wednesday, May 12, 2010, Sunshine Social will host their annual prom for program participants. This year’s theme is a masquerade ball. Most participants never attended their high school prom, so they are excited to dress-up and join their friends for an evening of dancing and light refreshments. Recently, voting took place among the participants to determine who would be on the royal court of king, queen, princes, and princesses. All winners will be announced that evening at the prom. It will be a night to remember! Pre-registration is recommended for all participants, and new registrations are encouraged.
