Mayor’s Gala Auction Items Sought to Raise Funds for Military Banner Program

The City of Moreno Valley and the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce are hosting the 2010 Mayor’s City Celebration Gala on Saturday, October 16. This annual event, which includes dinner, a silent auction, and entertainment, benefits a local non-profit organization selected by the Mayor. This year Mayor Bonnie Flickinger has selected the Military Appreciation Banner Program as the beneficiary of funds raised through the silent auction.

The City Council recently adopted the new Military Appreciation Banner Program to honor Moreno Valley residents serving in the armed forces. Families and friends of Moreno Valley servicemen and women will be able to order banners with the names and photos of the servicemen and women on them to be displayed on streetlights within the community. Some of the proceeds from the Mayor’s Gala will go toward the cost of the banners and installation hardware and will help keep the price of the banners down.

To donate items to the silent auction please contact the Chamber at 697.4404. Donors will be acknowledged at the Gala and donations must be received by the Chamber no later than October 5. The Mayor’s City Celebration Gala will be held at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center located at 14075 Frederick Street. A reception starts at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are required, for ticket information or additional information regarding donating auction items, please contact the Chamber.
