Vehicle Thefts Increase on Hondas

During the month of November, the City of Moreno Valley has experienced an increase in vehicle thefts. Many of the stolen vehicles have been either Honda Accords or Honda Civics.

The Moreno Valley Police Department is actively investigating the thefts and is interested in building a partnership with the community to solve the past crimes and prevent more from occurring.

Residents of the city are asked to take precautions to help reduce their chances of being a victim of auto theft. Some suggestions are listed below:

  • Never leave your keys in the vehicle. Nearly 20% of all vehicles stolen had the keys in them when they were stolen!
  • Always lock your vehicle.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • Never leave your unattended vehicle running, even if only for a brief moment.
  • Completely close the vehicle's windows when it is parked.
  • Do not leave valuables in plain view.
  • Use the emergency brake when the vehicle is parked. This makes the vehicle harder to tow away.
  • If you have a garage, use it.

The Moreno Valley Police Department is asking anyone with information related to this investigation to contact the Moreno Valley Police Department's Investigations Bureau at (951) 486-6538 or (951) 486-6813.
