City of Moreno Valley to Host Snow Day and
Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department invites you to celebrate the holiday season with the City’s Annual Snow Day event and the Tree Lighting Ceremony. These events will take place from 9:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd at the Conference and Recreation Center located at 14075 Frederick Street.

Snow Day
Moreno Valley’s 4th Annual Snow Day event will feature two snow scenes for children ages 12 and under. The Tot Lot snow scene will be for kids ages five and younger, and the Youth Zone will be for kids ages six through twelve. The cost for participation in this exciting snow play experience is only $6.00 for Moreno Valley residents and $8.00 for non-residents. The fee will be applied during registration on the day of the event. The ticket will provide 45 minutes of snow play per snow scene.

Snow Day will also feature a fun zone which includes bouncers, face painting, and games at no additional cost. The City’s mobile entertainment stage will be on site offering local youth groups and City contracted classes the opportunity to perform for the community. Local craft vendors will sell a curated selection of artisan crafts and fun toys for kids. Many food vendors will be on hand to provide a variety of local cuisine.

Snowman Contest
Do you want to build a snowman? Please enter the homemade craft snowman contest before December 2, 2017, to participate.

Snowman Contest rules:

  • Open to Moreno Valley residents only
  • Builders of all ages are welcome
  • A snowman may be built from any craft materials
  • Snowman must be a minimum height of 12 inches & maximum height of 2 feet
  • Snowman may NOT be altered after it has been entered
  • Builders name must be visible on the snowman

For Snowman Contest application details, please call Parks and Community Services at 951.413.3280. If you decide to participate, please complete the application and drop off your snowman on Friday, December 1st between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Conference and Recreation Center. You may also bring your snowman to the Snow Day event on Saturday, December 2nd by 2:00 p.m. for consideration. Winners MUST be present to receive their award. Winners will be announced at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez will host the City’s 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event features several holiday-themed performances along with a special visit from a very jolly holiday icon. The ceremony will commence with the lighting of Moreno Valley’s 25-foot tree. At the conclusion of the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Santa’s Workshop will open promptly at 6:00 p.m. and include pictures with Santa, holiday-themed crafts, games, face painting, and balloon artwork. Moreno Valley staff will provide free hot chocolate and cookies to the community during the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
