Join the Friends of the LibraryAs you undoubtedly know, the budgets of libraries nationwide during the last few years have been critically short of public funding due to the past recession, natural disasters, increased usage, and a dozen other reasons. This has resulted in an urgent need for citizen volunteers, such as youself, to help maintain the dynamic activities of our library system with both money and time. Your membership is a commitment to meet these needs. To join, simply download, print and complete our handy application form. Then, send it to our address with your membership dues or donation.
More About Being a Member of the Friends of the LibraryWe schedule our general meetings as needed, usually on Wednesday evenings, at the Moreno Valley Public Library Community Room. We try to have a dynamic speaker at each of our meetings, generally a locally renowned author, and sometimes we arrange field trips relevant to our members' interests. Our officers and committee chairs meet on other evenings as needed to discuss the many items of business for which they are responsible. The Friends of the Library holds a continuous book sale from the library's Book Nook, used book sales on occasional Saturdays, and an annual Book-a-Thon. Our annual Book-a-Thon allows the public the chance to take advantage of tremendous bargains on used books, while providing funds to the Friends of the Library. In addition, we provide the library with such equipment as die cutters, computers, cameras, and audio-visual equipment - even tables and chairs for the children's wing. We also publish periodical newsletters that are mailed to all of our members to keep them up to date with coming events as well as recent achievements. We hope that you will become an active participant in some of our many support activities and will be able to volunteer some of your time in response to our various invitations. Your participation will be most appreciated, no only by the library, but also by the community at large. For more information, please call: 951.242.1777.
