Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation
Receives Top Honors From
the California Parks and Recreation Society

Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation has been selected as a 1998 "Award of Merit" winner by the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) in the Recreation and Community Services "Planning & Problem Solving" category. The winning entry was the After School Child Care Program.

Through the efforts of Assemblyman Brett Granlund, Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation successfully changed state law to allow the child care program to expand from 16 to 20 hours per week, without requiring a license. This expansion significantly improved the ability of the city to continue to provide safe and affordable child care services for many of Moreno Valley's working parents and their children. Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation was also recognized for receiving a $427,000 state grant for the After School Care Program.

The Award of Merit, the top award in CPRS' "Planning & Problem Solving" category, will be presented to Moreno Valley Parks and Recreation in Santa Clara, at the CPRS State Conference in February.
