City Offers FREE LinkedIn Learning Licenses to Residents to Boost Job Skills

For immediate release: May 23 2019

Moreno Valley Employment Resource Center Embraces the Future of Online Training with LinkedIn Learning® Launch

The City of Moreno Valley offers residents the opportunity to access a free one-year subscription to LinkedIn Learning®, an online learning platform offering over 13,000 on-demand video courses available in popular growth areas such as business, technology, and creative skills.

The LinkedIn Learning® network includes a vast array of content from short videos to hour-long courses as well as learning pathways that consist of curated content. Learning pathways culminate in certificates, known as digital badges.

Moreno Valley residents interested in the free subscription are required to attend a workshop on Tuesday, May 28, from 5-7 p.m. at the Employment Resource Center (ERC). Eligible residents are encouraged to email erc@moval.org to reserve a seat, as licenses are available only for a limited time.

LinkedIn Learning® is just one of many new services at the ERC. In early Spring, the ERC launched LevelUp MoVal, a comprehensive career preparedness certificate program that provides job seekers with the necessary elements to compete for the best jobs in the area. The four-hour program includes a career assessment, resume creation, mock interview, and job search tools.

Residents also have access to job skills tests to help assess their levels of competency in today’s most sought after job skills. Assessments are offered through IBM Kenexa, utilizing the same evaluations that most employers use to measure a job applicant's skills. The program offers over 1,200 possible skills tests in 10 languages.

“The ERC has evolved into a mega-one-stop center for residents who understand that technological change is impacting nearly every industry and want to stay ahead of that curve,” said Mayor Yxstian A. Gutierrez. “The ERC is where you go to start a business, discover your passion, and pursue educational opportunities. Now, you can use the ERC to access a world of online content, where the opportunities for advancement are limitless."

The ERC is a vital component in the City’s Hire MoVal strategy serving as a central hub where job seekers and major employers connect. The ERC has been an important tool in job creation. The City's employment-focused efforts have resulted in the generation of over 17,000 new Moreno Valley jobs in the past five years.

In recent years, the ERC expanded its offerings to serve as the central location for small business development workshops. This ERC is also an educational hub for key community partners such as Moreno Valley College, Moreno Valley Adult School, California Baptist University, U.S. Small Business Administration, Inland Empire Small Business Development Center, SCORE and the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center. Moreno Valley's Employment Resource Center is a one-stop community location for business and workforce development.
