MoVal Residents Weigh-in on Their Priorities

For immediate release: August 16,2019

A recent community survey conducted by the City of Moreno Valley indicates residents want the City to maintain the community’s quality of life by supporting public safety, infrastructure and other improvements.

Residents strongly prioritize continuing improvement of 911 emergency-response times, using specialized crime-fighting programs; maintaining the safety of public areas; maintaining roadways by repairing potholes and making larger road improvements; helping people who are homeless; and continuing the City’s youth-based programming and services.

Eighty-nine percent of respondents also indicated ensuring Moreno Valley tax dollars are used locally is a top priority, with 78% agreeing that the City needs additional funding.

"The quality-of-life survey provides the City with valuable perspectives on residents' priorities, which helps guide the work of the City Council," explained Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. "It also improves transparency and teamwork as the community partners with its City government to maintain accountability and trust."

The community survey is part of a longstanding and ongoing effort to engage residents, who are invited to review the survey results on the City’s website.
