High Temps Trigger Statewide Flex Alert for Friday, Aug. 14

Residents Asked to Conserve Power from 3-10 p.m.

For immediate release: August 13, 2020

A statewide electricity Flex Alert has been issued by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) for the hours of 3 - 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, due to high temperatures and the resulting high energy demand. All Californians are asked to reduce their electricity use as much as possible during that time. In Moreno Valley, the temperature is expected to reach as high as 105 degrees.

Simple ways to conserve power include:

  • Turning off non-essential lights and appliances;
  • Using major appliances only before 3 p.m. or after 10 p.m;
  • Setting AC no lower than 78 degrees, and turning the AC off when leaving home;
  • Closing drapes or blinds; and
  • Setting pool pumps for overnight cycle.

Las Temperaturas Altas Activan La Alerta “Flex” Estatal para el viernes 14 de agosto de 2020 Se Les Pide a Los Residentes que Conserven Energía de 3 a 10 p.m.

El Operador del Sistema Independiente de California (CAISO) emitió una Alerta “Flex” de electricidad en todo el estado para el viernes 14 de agosto de 3 a 10 pm debido a las altas temperaturas y la alta demanda de energía. Se les pide a todos los residentes que reduzcan su uso de electricidad tanto como sea posible durante ese tiempo. En Moreno Valley, se espera que la temperatura alcance hasta 105 grados.

Las maneras simples de conservar energía incluyen:
