Mayor, City Council Celebrate Ribbon Cutting at Moreno Valley's New "Teen SPOT"

Moreno Valley teens now have a place to call their own. On Wednesday, June 9, Mayor Gutierrez and City Council officially opened the Dr. Carla J. Thornton Teen SPOT (Support, Programs, Opportunities & Technology), a teen-focused after-school space at the City's Conference & Recreation Center.
Teen SPOT offers fun social/recreational activities, along with participation in supervised programs, including tutoring and homework help, use of a state-of-the-art computer lab, leadership activities, and a variety of workshops.
"We are so proud to provide a safe, welcoming, and useful place for teens to gather where they can access the internet, catch up on school work, and socialize," explained Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "Teen SPOT reflects our commitment to provide positive activities for all residents, especially children and teens."
The Teen SPOT is now open at Moreno Valley's Conference and Recreation Center located at 14075 Frederick Street.

El alcalde y el consejo municipal celebran el corte de cinta del Nuevo "Teen SPOT" de Moreno Valley
Los adolescentes de Moreno Valley ahora tienen un lugar para llamar suyo. El miércoles 9 de junio, el alcalde Gutiérrez y el Concejo Municipal inauguraron oficialmente el Teen SPOT para adolescentes Dr. Carla J. Thornton (Apoyo, programas, oportunidades y tecnología), un espacio extracurricular centrado en los adolescentes en el Centro de Conferencias y Recreación de la Ciudad.
Teen SPOT ofrece divertidas actividades sociales/recreativas, junto con la participación en programas supervisados, que incluyen tutoría y ayuda con las tareas, el uso de un laboratorio de computación de última generación, actividades de liderazgo y una variedad de talleres.
"Estamos muy orgullosos de brindar un lugar seguro, acogedor y útil para que los adolescentes se reúnan, donde puedan acceder a Internet, ponerse al día con el trabajo escolar y socializar", explicó el Dr. Yxstian Gutiérrez, Alcalde de Moreno Valley. "Teen SPOT refleja nuestro compromiso de brindar actividades positivas a todos los residentes, especialmente a los niños y adolescentes".
